South Korea shares rebound, tracking Wall Street

Reuters - Round-up of South Korean financial markets:
** South Korean shares rose on Thursday after a major setback a day earlier, tracking a rebound on Wall Street, where dip buyers returned to buy technology shares. The won weakened, while the benchmark bond yield rose.
** The benchmark KOSPIclosed up 22.03 points, or 0.55%, at 4,026.45.
** Among index heavyweights, chipmaker Samsung Electronicsfell 1.39%, while peer SK Hynixgained 2.42%. Battery maker LG Energy Solutionclimbed 1.29%.
** U.S. stock indexes gained on Wednesday as technology-related shares rebounded and as U.S. private payrolls data was stronger than expected, while Treasury yields gained.
** Data on Wednesday showed the U.S. services sector activity increased to an eight-month high in October as new orders grew solidly, while private payrolls rose 42,000 last month, exceeding expectations.
** We may still be in a correction phase as there are still some concerns about valuations but a rosy outlook on earnings expectations is likely to take Korean shares higher after that, said Na Jeong-hwan, an analyst at NH Securities.
** Hyundai Motorand sister automaker Kia Corpwere up 0.19% and up 0.90%, respectively. Steelmaker POSCO Holdingsshed 0.16%.
** Of the total 928 traded issues, 633 shares advanced, while 267 declined.
** Foreigners were net sellers of shares worth 1.695 trillion won.
** The won was quoted at 1,447.7 per dollar on the onshore settlement platform, 0.41% lower than its previous close at 1,441.8.
** In offshore trading, the wonwas quoted at 1,447.6 per dollar, down 0.5% on the day, while in non-deliverable forward trading its one-month contract was quoted at 1,445.2.
** The KOSPI has risen 67.80% so far this year.
** The most liquid three-year Korean treasury bond yieldrose by 5.4 basis points to 2.822%, while the benchmark 10-year yieldrose by 7.2 basis points to 3.186%.
